PhD Research Position in Thin-Film Thermoelectric materials.

The Laboratory of Condensed Matter Chemistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) invites applications for a PhD position in Thermoelectric Materials. This position will be funded by the European project ERC-2DTHERMS. The term of employment for this position is 4 years.
The successful candidate will focus on the growth of thin-films and multilayers of different oxides and nitrides by Pulsed Laser Deposition. Characterization of the films will include different techniques of structural and morphological analysis (x-ray diffraction, SEM, AFM, TEM) as well as electronic transport (low temperature resistivity, Hall, Seebeck coefficient, etc). The final goal is to exploit nanostructuring and extrinsic doping to optimize the thermoelectric properties of these systems.
We are looking for a highly motivated student, with a background in Physics, Materials Chemistry or Materials Science.
Spanish is not needed, but English is required.
The Laboratory of Condensed Matter Chemistry is a part of CIQUS (http://www.usc.es/ciqus/en), a research center in Chemical Biology and Molecular Materials, integrating more than 150 researchers, including Professors, Postdocs and PhD students. The USC (http://www.usc.es/en/index.html) is an internationally recognized university, with more than 25000 students and close to 3000 employees. The University is located at the heart of the historical city of Santiago de Compostela, which offers an excellent cultural environment.
